Rules

As a coach, I have FOUR rules that I insist my players follow.  These are intended to give each and every kid on the team, regardless of their current skill level, a chance to grow and develop as a player.

Listen

Always listen when the coach is talking.  Even if the talk is directed at another player, take the chance to learn.

DO NOT be a distraction to others.

Work Hard

Practice time together is limited, so every player needs to be working his hardest for the time we have.  You also need to take the drills and info we work on home and practice.

Be a Team Player

Selfish players do not go far in this game.  Baseball is the ultimate team game that depends on you to do your job on every play.  Be there for your teammates when they need you!

HAVE FUN!

This game is fun.  That's why we do this.  We want to make this fun for every player on the team.  However, to do so, ALL players must follow the other rules.

What Can We Control?

As a player, there are a bunch of things out of your control.  However, 95% of winning cultures come from things within our control.

Attitude

Whether we win or lose, our attitude and actions define us. By choosing to be a leader, a good teammate, and someone others respect, we shape our own reputation.

Effort

No one is successful with talent alone. No matter how good you are as a 10 year old, if there are players out there giving more effort, they will be more successful.

Focus

Focus is staying locked in during practice and games, avoiding distractions, and being mentally prepared for each play.

Character

Character is who we are when no one is watching.  We shouldn't have to have a coach or parent watching us in order to make the right decisions.  We're old enough now to start doing this on our own.

Sportsmanship

How we treat opponents, umpires, coaches, and teammates, regardless of the game's outcome will define us as players and an organization.  Lack of sportsmanship will not be tolerated on this team.
